The live Neverfull MM row
Boutique retail on this site is $2,200 before tax. With the modeled 8.5% sales tax that is $2,387 out the door. Today's resale is $1,680 — 76% of boutique retail. Five-year projected resale is $1,584, or 72% of boutique retail.
Typical use on the row is 130 wears a year, 650 wears across five years. Insurance is modeled at $20 a year. Reconditioning is $250 every four years. Across a five-year hold insurance and reconditioning total $350. All-in cost if you keep the bag is $2,737, or $4.21 a wear.
Sold on consignment at 25%, five-year projected resale of $1,584 becomes $1,188 in hand — about 50% of the $2,387 purchase. Subtract that from the $2,737 all-in hold and the net cost of ownership is $1,549, or $310 a year, or $2.38 a wear across 650 wears. The bag does not break even inside five years.
Bought at boutique, sold in year five. Net cost about $1,549 after 25% consignment and $350 of upkeep. That is $2.38 per wear across 650 wears.
Bought at boutique and kept. All-in $2,737. At 130 wears a year that is $4.21 per wear.
Bought pre-owned at today's resale. $1,680 versus $2,200 boutique — $520 before tax. The five-year worksheet from that entry price is a different row.
These are Luxemetry calculator outputs from the live Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM model, snapshot August 2026. They are not Louis Vuitton quotes and they are not a prediction that resale holds $1,680.
Why $2.38 is a frequency number, not a return
The live Classic Flap Medium costs $44.15 a wear after a $6,623 five-year loss. The Neverfull costs $2.38 a wear after a $1,549 five-year loss. The Flap is the more expensive object. The Neverfull is the more used object. One hundred and thirty wears a year is why a $2,200 tote undercuts an $11,800 flap on cost-per-wear while both lose money.
The Birkin 25 on the same vertical is the opposite sign: $12,100 boutique, $27,500 resale, a modeled $7,728 five-year gain. Putting a Neverfull on that headline erases the only number that matters. This bag trades at 76% of list today and 72% in the year-five projection. It has to be carried.
Cut the wears to 30 a year and the sold cost-per-wear rises; the $1,549 does not move. Raise wears and the per-wear figure falls without changing the dollars in hand. Do not mix the two columns.
What the 25% commission actually does
A $1,584 projected resale is not $1,584 in your account. Twenty-five percent consignment is $396 off the top on that figure, which is why proceeds land at $1,188. That fee is larger than the $350 of modeled insurance and reconditioning combined.
The $1,549 net cost is proceeds minus what you spent, not list minus resale. Tax at purchase is in the basis. Insurance and reconditioning are in the basis. Drop either line and the loss looks smaller than the hold produced.
A Neverfull that needs a full canvas restore or a new vachetta trim is not this row. The $250 reconditioning line is a clean-and-service figure. Darkened vachetta and worn corners are where the 76% retention breaks.
Do not stack the Birkin gain on this bag. The $7,728 Birkin result is a different model. The Neverfull row does not inherit it.
Pre-owned changes the entry. Buying at $1,680 instead of $2,200 saves $520 before tax. Insurance and reconditioning still accrue.
Monogram MM is the row. Damier, Empreinte, and the GM size trade off this sheet.
How to use the number
Use $2.38 a wear if you plan to sell in year five at the modeled 130 wears a year. Use $4.21 a wear if you plan to keep it. Use $1,680 as today's alternative to the boutique, not as a floor.
The bag is a wardrobe cost that returns about 50% of boutique outlay after five years and a fee. That is a working tote residual. It is not the Birkin trade, and it does not need to be.
If the question is which bag produces a gain, the Birkin 25 guide is the row that does. If the question is what it costs to carry the Neverfull you will actually use, this page is the worksheet.
Three desks: live tote, calculators, methodology
I keep three sheets on this desk. The live Neverfull MM row is https://luxemetry.com/handbags/louis-vuitton/neverfull-mm . Frequency is why the per-wear figure looks small; the resale line is why it is not a return.
The handbag resale and cost-per-wear calculators take the same inputs. This guide freezes the MM row.
How those lines are built is on https://luxemetry.com/methodology . Louis Vuitton does not publish this site's cost-per-wear.

- What is the cost per wear of a Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM?
- On this site, a Neverfull MM bought at boutique and sold in year five costs about $2.38 a wear across 650 wears. Kept rather than sold, $4.21 a wear at 130 wears a year. Not a boutique quote.
- How much is a Neverfull MM in 2026?
- Luxemetry models boutique retail at $2,200 before tax, $2,387 with 8.5% sales tax, and today's resale at $1,680. Five-year projected resale is $1,584. Not a Louis Vuitton quote.
- Does a Neverfull hold its value?
- The live row retains 76% of boutique retail today and models 72% in year five. After a 25% consignment fee and $350 of upkeep, five-year proceeds are $1,188 — about 50% of the $2,387 outlay. That is a residual, not a return.
- Should I buy a Neverfull pre-owned?
- Today's resale of $1,680 is $520 below the $2,200 boutique ticket before tax. Rerun the handbag calculator at the price you would actually write. Insurance and reconditioning still accrue.

- The live Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM model page and the same calculator functions used across the handbags vertical. Data snapshot August 2026.
